Registered book clubs must purchase five (5) or more copies of their title each month through RJ Julia Booksellers. Registered book clubs will receive 20% off hardcover orders and 15% off paperback orders. No other discounts will apply.

Classics

Meets via Zoom the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm
This club has been meeting for over 10 years and concentrates on classic literature, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry.

Debut Author

Meets in-store the third Monday of the month at 6:45pm
This club "debuted" in September 2012. They focus on books that are written by up and coming authors. If you're looking for an adventure into uncharted waters, you'll enjoy taking the risk with what a debut author can offer.

Hot Off the Press Book Club

Meets in-store the second Thursday of the month from 1:00-2:30pm
This club gravitates towards new fiction though it isn't a requirement. They are open to reading non-fiction as well as other genres. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Indie Book Club

Meets in-store the last Wednesday of the month from 12:30-2:00pm
The goal of this book club is to read something new and interesting and to have lively, thought-provoking discussion. Feel free to bring your lunch.

Major Issues Book Club

Meets via Zoom the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm 
This is both a Book Club and a Study Group. It tackles a major issue or country (e.g., Nigeria; The Other America; Mexico; Legacy of Native Americans on the U.S; India; and, Humans, Animals, and AI What are the Differences?) over 3 meetings, reading both foundational/historical and policy non-fiction and great fiction (or memoir) related to the topic. All members are encouraged to participate on an ongoing basis as well as in sub-committees that select readings in advance of the discussions.

R.J.'s Readers

Meets out-of-store the first Tuesday of the month at 4:00pm
This club reads selections chosen by members; the criteria being excellent writing, challenging plot lines, and great discussion topics.

First Tuesday Book Club

Meets in-store the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm
The First Tuesday Book Club hold their meetings at RJ Julia Booksellers. Titles are chosen by the members to spark engaging and spirited book-centered discussion.

The Meet Cuties

Meets in-store the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm
This is RJ Julia's newest in-store book club, debuting in April 2024. So if you love reading about love, this is the group for you.

RJ Crafty Book Club

Meets in-store the second Thursday of the month at 6:30pm
Need to be knitting? Mad about mending? Crazy about crochet? This is the group for people who like to talk books while keeping their hands busy! Titles will be chosen by members and will be connected by all things crafty, however loosely. Bring along your knitting, crochet, embroidery, macramé – all crafts are welcome.

Men's Book Club

Meets in-store the second Monday of the month at 6:30pm
This is a club for men who want to engage deeply with ideas through sharp, thought-provoking reading. We focus on fiction and nonfiction by living male authors—never more than 300 pages—because we value finishing our books. Think Ian McEwan, Richard Ford, Colson Whitehead, Michael Lewis. Come sharpen your mind and your conversation with us.

Tea & Tales Book Club

Meets monthly at various tea houses and unique venues across Connecticut.
A community-focused book club that blends a love for literary exploration with the refined tradition of afternoon tea. Founded on the belief that great stories are best shared over a warm cup.
